Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your browser or device. The Website and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Necessary cookies: to support essential Website functions, security and saved consent choices.
  • Analytics cookies: to measure visits, traffic sources and how readers interact with the Website.
  • Functional cookies: to support features such as embedded maps, videos or social media content.

You can accept, reject or manage optional cookies through the cookie banner on the Website. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how certain features work.

Analytics

I use Google Analytics to understand Website traffic and reader behaviour, such as which pages are visited, how visitors find the Website and general device or location information. Google Analytics may use cookies and collect information such as your IP address, device information and activity on the Website.

You can learn more about how Google handles information in the Google Privacy Policy and in Google’s explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services. You can also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Email Newsletter and Free Resources

If you subscribe to the newsletter or request a free resource, your name and email address may be processed by Kit, my email service provider. I use this information to deliver the content you requested and send related travel emails.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking that link or emailing me. I do not sell or rent my email list. Kit processes subscriber information according to its Privacy Policy.

Comments

If you leave a comment, the information entered in the comment form may be collected along with your IP address and browser information to help detect spam. Your display name, website address if provided, and comment may be visible publicly. Your email address will not be displayed publicly.

Because comments are public, do not include information you do not want others to see. You may contact me to request correction or removal of a comment, subject to applicable law and any information I must retain for security or legal purposes.

Affiliate Links

Some links on the Website are affiliate links. If you click one, the affiliate network or merchant may collect information and place a cookie on your device so it can recognize that the referral came from Annie’s Travel Mindset. Any information collected after you leave this Website is governed by that third party’s privacy policy.

For more information about my affiliate relationships and how affiliate links work, read my Affiliate Disclosure.

Embedded Content and External Links

Articles may include content from other websites, such as maps, videos, booking widgets or social media posts. Embedded content may behave as if you visited the third-party website directly. Those providers may collect data, use cookies and monitor your interaction with their content according to their own privacy policies.

The Website also links to external websites. I am not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of those websites. I encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

When Information May Be Shared

I may share or allow access to personal information only when reasonably necessary with service providers that help operate the Website, such as:

  • website hosting, maintenance and security providers;
  • analytics and consent-management providers;
  • email marketing and form providers;
  • comment and spam-prevention services; and
  • professional advisers or authorities when required by law.

These providers may process information on my behalf or, in some cases, under their own privacy policies. I may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to a lawful request, investigate misuse or protect the rights, safety and security of the Website or others.

I do not sell personal information.

Information Processed Outside Quebec or Canada

Annie’s Travel Mindset is operated from Quebec, Canada. Some service providers may process or store information in other provinces or countries, including the United States. As a result, information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies or other authorities in that jurisdiction.

When required, I assess privacy considerations before using a provider that handles personal information outside Quebec and take reasonable steps to select providers with appropriate safeguards.

Data Retention

I keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. In general:

  • newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward for consent, suppression and record-keeping purposes;
  • public comments may remain on the Website while the related article is published;
  • correspondence is kept only as long as needed to respond, maintain appropriate records or resolve a dispute;
  • analytics and server-log information is kept according to the retention settings of the relevant provider; and
  • information may be retained longer when required for security, fraud prevention, legal or regulatory obligations.

When information is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymized where reasonably possible. Residual copies may remain temporarily in secure backups.

Security

I use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information to protect it from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. However, no website, email transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children’s Privacy

The Website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children who cannot provide meaningful consent. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact me and I will take appropriate steps to remove it.
